The Tokyo souvenir brand “Tokyo Banana World” will start selling “Tokyo Banana World x Itohkyuemon Matcha Cake” from July 19th at Fa-So-La shops in Narita Airport and at the TOKYO SOUVENIR SHOP NORTH inside the international terminal of Haneda Airport. Prices start at 1,404 yen, tax included, for a pack of eight.
This is the first collaboration between “Tokyo Banana World”, a representative souvenir of Japan, and “Itohkyuemon”, a longstanding tea shop in Kyoto that also represents Japan. The collaboration has resulted in a “Matcha Cake” that represents Japan.
The cake is made by wrapping two types of smooth cream, Uji matcha and milk, in a fluffy Uji matcha sponge. The top of the sponge is adorned with four Japanese-style motifs inspired by Tokyo Banana and tea. The rich aroma of Uji matcha is carefully incorporated into the cake.
