Cafe “Typica” in Tokyo’s Nishi-Ogikubo. Located about a 2-minute walk from the south exit of Nishi-Ogikubo Station on the JR Chuo Line, the seasonal parfait has been attracting attention in recent years.
The shop, which opened in September 2020, offers carefully selected light roast coffee, natural wine, curry, and seasonal parfaits. While it was already a popular shop among local residents, the “Peach and Spice Parfait” offered in July this year caught the spotlight on social media, causing a sharp increase in attention. At peak times, there were lines of over 100 people, showing its popularity.
From July 22 to August 22, 2023, they will be offering a “Peach and Tiramisu Parfait.” Combining coffee canelés, peaches, viscous ice cream, black pepper cheese cookies, jasmine panna cotta, etc., the visual splendor is a given, and the evolving tastes, aromas, and textures can be enjoyed without ever growing tired of them. It’s awe-inspiring how it is all put together like a brilliantly crafted story.
The seasonal parfait sees the launch of a new menu around the 20th of every month. It’s a shop where visitors can feel surprise and joy every time they come.
It may be repetitive to say, but since gaining the spotlight this summer, Typica has become an even more popular shop where lines are to be expected. A ticketing system has been established according to the queue, so there’s no longer a need to wait outdoors for hours on end. However, if you want to minimize the waiting time, weekdays are the best times to aim for. If you can avoid peak times, you may even be able to enter without waiting. It would be wise to check the shop’s situation on their social media and plan the date and time of your visit accordingly.
