At Hotel New Otani Osaka’s all-day dining restaurant SATSUKI, one long-standing dessert continues to quietly captivate guests—the Osaka Castle Parfait. Priced at ¥2,300 (plus service charge as of July 2025), this dessert is a tribute to the neighboring Osaka Castle, with layers inspired by the castle’s architectural features.

First introduced over 35 years ago when the hotel opened, the parfait remains a signature item on the menu. It features layers of matcha soft serve and ice cream, representing the iconic green roof of the castle. Smooth whipped cream symbolizes the white plaster walls, while granola mimics the texture of stone walls. A drizzle of kuromitsu (Japanese black sugar syrup) adds a bold accent, evoking the black tiger-emblazoned exterior walls of the fortress. At the very top, a small decorative monaka wafer shaped like Osaka Castle completes the visual.

While its striking appearance is enough to catch attention, the true charm lies in the layered flavors and textures. Each bite offers a different taste, creating the subtle sensation of “eating your way through a castle.”
Hotel New Otani Osaka is a luxury hotel located next to Osaka Castle. Since opening in 1986, it has been known for its excellent service and cuisine. With restaurants like SATSUKI, it remains a popular choice for both domestic and international guests.
