Hotel Royal Classic Osaka is currently displaying three works from the animal series by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman—known for his “Rubber Duck” that has traveled around the world—at the front lobby on the 11th floor. With Hofman’s approval, the hotel has created an original cake titled “Hippopotamus Short,” inspired by the series’ “Yellow Hippo” artwork. The cake is being sold at the second-floor café lounge “Koagari” through June 30.
Japan’s Kona’s Coffee Serves Up a Tower of Cream: Strawberry & Banana Whipped PancakesThe cake was created by a young female pastry chef who went through repeated trial and error to balance the visual appeal of Hofman’s artwork with the quality and flavor expected of an authentic dessert.

While expressing the unique world created by the work—characterized by its rounded form and gentle expression—the cake combines a smooth mousse with a refined sweetness, resulting in a flavor that can be enjoyed by people of all generations. The price is 800 yen (tax included, service charge included) for eat-in and 700 yen (tax included) for takeout.
